SVSD Board of Directors – District 2 -January 2008-present (Elected Nov. '07)
President - 2010
Vice President - 2009
       Served as School Board Liaison on the following committees:

            Controversial Issues Task Force  with teachers and parents
o Collaborated with the team to rewrite the policy on teaching controversial issues.
o Filmed and edited video used for workshop on teaching controversial issues for MSHS teachers. The video featured Mt. Si Students giving their opinions as well as some teachers demonstrating techniques and offering strategies.

Valley Voters For Education – Advisory Member 2006-2007
o Worked with the VVFE Board doing a variety of tasks ranging from design work, strategy and attending a few “Let’s Bond” coffees that are part of our voter and community education approach to getting the Snoqualmie Valley School Bond passed in February. I also worked with the Voters for Excellence to pass the Levies in our school district.
SVSD Facilities Task Force – Parent Member- Mar – Sept. 2006
o One of 23 members that attended weekly meeting since March to analyze student population growth and determine new facilities that would be needed as well as improvements (ie: new roof) /updates to current buildings to maximize the investments that have already been made.
Learning Improvement Team Parent Member - Opstad Elem. 2006-2008
o This group analyzing assessment data and establishes goals for the school in areas of that the school with focus on for improvement. Meets monthly to discuss goals, progress and other ways to improve our already very good school.
  Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council Co-Vice President 2007
               o Served as Co-Vice President on the newly formed Snoqualmie Valley PTSA Council
District Technical Advisory Committee –Parent Member - SVSD
o Sets the classroom standard for computer and software. Set prioritized spending of Tech Bond monies.
Project Manager – Opstad Elementary Playground Project 2005
o Project manager for the procurement and construction process of the Playground Project. PTA Playground team will be installing over $50,000 worth of playground equipment in three play areas at Opstad Elementary. Total value of project is over $95,000. Team secured pledges for donated labor, services and materials for over $30,000 while we were writing the King County grant proposal. Volunteers installed first playground April 23, 2005 and the other two areas on July 23, 2005. I also wrote a Starbucks in the Park Grant proposal - $15,000 for Opstad Playground. This project earned a Snoqualmie Valley Community Network “Rise and Shine” award and I also received an individual “Rise and Shine” award for my work on this project.
Grant Writer – Opstad Elementary 2004-2005
o Co-Wrote a King County Youth Sports Facility grant application that resulted in funding of $45,000 for a three phase playground project for Opstad Elementary in North Bend. Managed design process, much of the technical aspects of the plan and helped solicit letters of support for the grant application. Also wrote a Starbucks Neighborhood Park Grant – awarded $15,000 and a commemorative Starbucks Park Bench for the Playground project.
Chair - Opstad PTA Teacher Grant Committee - 2003-2005
o Lead team of grant evaluators of teacher grants for PTA. Annual budget of $8,000. Approved funding for winning grants. Member of grant committee for over 4 years.
Member - RISE Committee - Opstad Elementary
o Part of the team that brought the RISE afterschool program to Opstad. Worked with North Bend Elementary parents that had a successful RISE program and created an Opstad program modeled after NBE. Was also regular volunteer for the program once it was up and running.
 Member - Opstad PTA Enrichment Committee-
o Member of the Enrichment Committee that held the first Science Fair at Opstad and also published an annual literary magazine featuring the artwork and writing of Opstad Students.

Other Community Volunteer Experience

   Rotary of Snoqualmie Valley – Member and sponsor
Work with the service and PR committees and manage the website.  Sponsored a half    hole for Rotary golf tournament and worked the event.
       
   Chamber of Commerce- Snoqualmie Valley - Member

   Online Technical Chair –ACS Relay for Life of Snoq. Valley Committee  2006-09
o Managed the website for local Relay for Life, trained participant and team captains on the site, maintained reports of donations, teams and worked on communication. Taught hands on classes to participants in classroom settings and one on one or small groups.
   Trainer – ACS Relay for Life Regional Online Training Travel Team 2008
o In 2008 joined the Traveling Online Technical Training team that trained other Online Chairs from other communities in WA and OR. Continued to serve as local Online Technical Chair in the Snoqualmie Valley.
   Team Captain - ACS Relay for Life of Snoqualmie. Valley 2004-07
o Team Captain for Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce 2004 and 2005 Relay Team- Recruited team members, scheduled relay shifts and helped raise over $5000 the American Cancer Society. Was Co-Captain for the Si View team in 2006 and personal team in 2007
   Vice President – Si View Homeowners Association 2004, 2006, 2009-present
o Neighborhood of 250 homes. Responsible for negotiating and managing landscaping contract, dealing with homeowner questions and concerns. Provided neighborhood with news from city council, park district and schools when applicable to the neighborhood.
